Tefsiriyat publishes articles in Turkish, Arabic, and English and is issued biannually, in June and December. The journal aims to contribute to the international academic community by disseminating original studies with strong methodological depth and scholarly significance.

Aim and Scope  Tafsīriyat is an international, peer-reviewed scholarly journal that aims to investigate the nature of the activity of understanding and interpreting the Qur’an, with a particular focus on examining the ontological, epistemological, and methodological foundations of exegetical practice. The journal approaches tafsīr not merely as an interpretive activity oriented toward producing results, but as a multi-layered field of thought and knowledge characterized by internal coherence, a conceptual structure, and historical continuity. In this respect, Tafsīriyat prioritizes theoretical and conceptual studies that discuss the possibilities and limits of Qur’anic interpretation within the framework of the text–meaning–interpretation relationship. Classical and modern exegetical traditions, methodological approaches, and conceptual transformations are examined through critical, comparative, and interdisciplinary perspectives.

The scope of the journal encompasses studies that, while taking tafsīr as the primary point of reference, examine how disciplines such as exegetical theory, hermeneutics, philology, semantics, linguistics, philosophy, sociology, and cultural studies are articulated with Qur’anic interpretation. Within this framework, the journal also publishes original scholarly works that address the transformations undergone by Qur’anic interpretation within the exegetical tradition across different historical, geographical, and cultural contexts.

Tafsīriyat adopts a dynamic interpretive-field approach that considers both the original and relatively stable dimension of meaning inherent in the text and the processes through which meaning is produced and circulated, and aims to contribute to the deepening of this field through engagement with contemporary academic debates.

Within this framework, the main types of contributions published in the journal include:

Research Articles: Scholarly studies that make original contributions to the fields of tafsīr and Qur’anic studies through innovative arguments and comprehensive analyses.
Book Reviews and Critical Notices: Critical evaluations of works published in the fields of the Qur’an, tafsīr, Qur’anic sciences, and related disciplines.
Symposium and Panel Reports: Analytical reviews that introduce and critically assess topics discussed in national and international academic meetings.
Critical Editions and Textual Studies: Works devoted to the scholarly examination, comparison, and preparation for publication of classical and contemporary texts in accordance with established academic methods.
Academic Biographies and Obituaries: Scholarly studies on influential figures in the field of tafsīr, focusing on their lives, intellectual contributions, and scholarly impact.
Scholarly Translation Articles: Academic translations of original texts that have the potential to contribute to Qur’anic and tafsīr studies, prepared in accordance with scholarly standards.
